Handing over Starstrutter Liberty Bleu Madiana, Lisa Haig March 2001

Experiencing my first Tonkinese, "The Twins", it was essential that I commence a breeding program in S.A.!! I have imported from Australia, a Chocolate Mackerel Tabby female and a Blue Mink male from Loral in Australia, producing Chocolate, Blue and Brown's in Minks and Tabbies.

Loeloeraai Storm, a Chocolate Mink from Yamani and Wujar will be mated to a Blue Burmese to create another genetic line.

Starstrutter Liberty Bleu Madiana is also producing another genetic line with Wujar, their prodgeny are a strong blue line. Loeloeraai Leyla is a little Lilac Mink female from Madiana and Wujar's second litter, she will be my next "Show Princess" and destined to produce award winning Tonks!

I decided to Import a breeding pair of Pedigreed Tonkinese so as to have the breed recognized here in South Africa as soon as possible. The South African Cat Council, SACC, now have proposed a Standard of Points for the Tonkinese and have granted the Tonks Preliminary Status, after which they will grant Provisional Status and finally granting Championship Status by January 2002!

WUJAR AND YAMANI will produce 5th generation, Full register Tonkinese progeny and by Out-crossing to Siamese or Burmese will result in 1st generation Tonkinese. I hope to increase the gene pool even further early 2001, by adding a Pedigree Blue Mink female from the US.

"Madiana came to live with Ole (Tonk), Lena (Snowshoe Mom and her two babies), "Bandito" (Snowshoe), and "Verbal" (Snowshoe), Hunter and me. She will be with us until mid-March when Madiana and I fly off to her new home in Capetown, South Africa. My friend Jeanine is starting the Tonkinese breed in South Africa with two stunning Australian Tonkinese. She is a sweet, affectionate, fearless, playful kitten who purrs almost continually." - Lisa Haug 30/12/00
